Eclectic-just as I like it! The carved center pendant is what
spurred this piece on. I wanted to make a choker with
various components attached together. This piece definitely
took on a life of its own. I had other ideas for this piece, but
as it grew those ideas just were not going to be right. So as
most of my work, with very little planning, it grew 'by itself'.
The center 'cab' is backed with microsuede and bezeled with
a bit of netting around it. The bead embroidered side pieces
are enhanced with coconut shell beads, vintage flat back
crystals and beaded mainly with 1 Cut Opaque Turquoise
Picasso Firepolished Czech seed beads. The center pendant is
a freeform turquoise bead I made into a cab with bezeling
and backed with microsuede, then fringed with dozen of tiny
'fingers'. The clasp took on a mind of its own. My local bead
shop did not have an antique brass 5/1 connector, so going
through my stash I found the wonderful patina brass pieces.
I was originally going to drill holes to accommodate that,
then I decided to embroider them as well. With jump rings,
a lobester clasp and 3" of chain, all in antique brass, it is
completely adjustable for necks measuring 16 1/4" - 19 1/4".
The widest embroidered point is 2 1/4" and the pendant
hangs to 2 1/4" in length.
